Vineyards

The vineyards in Hunter Valley were first established in 1820s and since then this amazing piece of Heaven has not only grown in size but it has also grown in its worldwide reputation, attracting tourists from all over the world. The first vineyards were planted in 1823 around the north bank of the Hunter River (famous under the name Dalwood area) on an expanse of 20 acres. By 1840 the expanse of vineyards reached 500 acres and today Hunter Valley takes great pride in its 120 wineries which produce the great Hunter Valley wine.

  • Tyrell – are one of the most successful privately owned companies in Australia which has two vineyards in the Hunter Valley: the Pookolbin Winery and the Glenbawn Estate Vineyard and Winery. They are famous and renowned for their Semillon which has won more medals and trophies than any other Australian wine.
